A Look Back: Summer Highlights from Hurlbutt Designs

September seems to always come too soon! In addition to working on multiple design projects and welcoming many of you in the main shop and at Portside over the busy summer season, we also hosted and sponsored several special events. In case you missed any, here is a look back at some of our favorites.

MAY

The Barclay Butera Collection Launch Party kicked off the summer when we unveiled more than 30 classic coastal pieces from the famed designer’s brand-new Newport furniture collection for Lexington Home Brands.

JUNE

We were so happy to host a book signing for George & Barbara Bush: A Great American Love Story by their granddaughter Ellie LeBlond and Kelly Clinton. Ellie and Kelly shared wonderful memories of their intimate interviews and stayed until every last copy was signed—even though the line was out the front door!

JULY

In July, we toasted to a huge milestone: our 20th Anniversary! A stylish bash complete with a jazz band, raw bar, and many loyal clients and hardworking contractors rounded out a beautiful evening under the stars.

AUGUST

We designed the stage for Celebration of Reading, held at Vinegar Hill. Christopher Buckley, Brad Meltzer, Cokie Roberts, and Ellie LeBlond Sosa all spoke to help raise both awareness and funds to support the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy. It was a particularly heartfelt evening as guests reflected on Barbara Bush’s legacy.

Hurlbutt Designs was a sponsor of the first annual Above Board Gala. Held directly across from the shop at On the Marsh Bistro, the elegant evening benefited the creation of a Recovery Coach Training Academy with support of the Kennebunk Police Department.
